Romantic Theme Wedding

Candlelight, champagne, a beautiful aura of ambience - this is what a romantic wedding theme entails. From soft subtle colours to fine music and elegant decorations that speak to the heart, a romantic theme wedding is what many brides are searching for.

Romantic weddings lend themselves to smaller, more intimate ceremonies and reception celebrations, rather than large gatherings. However, that isn't to say that you can't have a romantic wedding with 200+ guests - but do be aware that you may loose some of that "romance" in the process of trying to plan an event with so many people in attendance. So what constitutes romance? Some ideas are red or pink hearts; soft, delicate flowers; candles; champagne and wine; pearls; large bows; organza and chiffon materials; romantic music.

Unique Wedding Themes

Be original! Check out these unique wedding ideas. We have some cool and funky unique ideas for weddings that include Elvis, fine artists, pirates and more! When planning out an original theme wedding it's wise to focus on your wants, desires, combined personalities, and hobbies. We give you several unique wedding tips to get the ideas flowing.

Rather than sticking to a Victorian themed wedding or a retro throwback, look for unique ideas that bring forward your special interests. For example, those that really admire Elvis Presley may choose to plan an Elvis wedding - or go off to Vegas and be married by an Elvis impersonator.

Some hobbies are perfect for memorable unique wedding ideas and themes. How about an "Artists of the World" theme, where you showcase your favorite artist - or perhaps feature one famous painter per guest table? Are you really into music? Then design your theme wedding around your favourite’s songs, band, instrument, or the genre of music that you enjoy.

Holiday Weddings

With so many different types of holidays throughout the year, choosing a theme for holiday weddings is pretty simple. And basing your theme on these particular days makes it easier to select the types of decorations, flowers, favours, and overall scheme colours that you'll be using. Below, you will find some great examples of holiday theme weddings that will provide wealth ideas for your upcoming nuptials.

Flower Theme

Of course, a flower wedding theme presents its own difficulties. With thousands of varieties available, which flower do you pick? From vibrant colours, to variegated varieties; from fragrant blossoms to interesting shapes; from the rarest flowers to the most common choices; selecting the one that fits your personal preferences and personalities can get tricky. While it's true that you could potentially use any type of flower for your theme preference, you will soon become aware that some flowers are more reminiscent of weddings than others. These floral beauties will be your main focal point.

Cost is another factor to consider. While a bouquet of lily-of-the-valley can create a look of delicate sophistication, they are also a very expensive flower - and you need a lot of them to make a decent wedding bouquet. Hydrangeas, on the other hand, are moderately priced with full, bushy heads in a variety of vibrant colours.

Fantasy and Fairytale Wedding Themes

When someone says "fairytale weddings," we immediately think of Cinderella or perhaps a Disney destination wedding. However, not all fairy tale weddings need to be a copycat of the Cinderella theme. With a little imagination and "thinking outside the box," you can find numerous ways to have your fantasy dream wedding that is elegant, but based on the fairy tale that you enjoy the most.

Once upon a time there was a couple. And this couple wanted to have a wedding celebration that included "wizards." Now there was a novel fantasy wedding theme... something a bit different and fun, yet reflected their interests.

Fall Wedding Themes

Autumn weddings are a time to embrace nature's beautiful bounty of vibrant fall colors such as light greens, faded yellows, burnt oranges, burgundy reds, and chocolate browns. In fact, pairing these colors (as well as blue, pink, terra cotta, ivory, plum, and white) with various shades of brown can make a stunning and elegant wedding theme combination.

Your decor will most likely highlight these colors, along with using the symbols reminiscent of fall: leaves, pumpkins and gourds, wheat stalks, Indian corn, acorns, etc. If you're coming up short on unique ideas for your fall wedding theme, just select an autumn item and plan your wedding around it.

Cultural Wedding Themes

Cultural weddings from around the world are filled with their own unique and special customs. Whether your wedding is based on a religious tradition or is influenced by your heritage, there is always something special that you can use to make your marriage celebration personally, and uniquely, yours.

Celestial Wedding Theme

When we say "celestial", we often think of a dark starry night, perhaps a shooting star on which to make a loving wish, and a beautiful moon casting its soft light upon the earth.

Some couples choose to be married outdoors at night, which can be wonderfully intimate when you only have a small wedding party present. However, for a larger gathering, it's best to choose an indoor location. Some suggestions would be a local planetarium, a small hotel up on a hill or nestled in a wooded area (so guests can go outside to gaze at the stars), or a public lodge located in a provincial/state/national park.

Beach Wedding Theme

Beach wedding themes conjure up romantic thoughts that inspire many people. The gorgeous colours of sunsets dipping below the horizon; the dawning rays glinting over the water of the rising sun in the morning; they all create their own beautiful auras, mesmerizing many of us as we watch. And, the feeling of freedom that most of us feel while on a beach with the water stretching out before us is exhilarating.

There's a large variety of beach wedding themes that you can focus on such as; nautical, ocean-themed, sand and surf, seashells, tropical, and many others. What appeals most to you should guide you in how to decorate, what favours you should give to your guests, what invitation styles you will select, and whatever else will be required to highlight your theme.

Animal Wedding Themes

Animal wedding themes often tend to centre on a favourite pet, such as a dog, cat, bird, or horse. In other cases, people have a fascination with butterflies, dolphins, swans, or the colourful beauty of ocean life.

Animal wedding themes show your love and admiration for the creatures that inhabit this world with us. Several of most popular animal wedding themes are butterfly theme, dolphin theme, the swan theme or dove wedding theme.

Red for a wedding theme?

One of the first things any couple needs to do when planning a wedding is to decide upon the style of the wedding - in particular the wedding theme and the wedding colour scheme.

A theme of red can not necessarily be all that bad, red comes out great in photos and if you soften it up with a touch of soft pink flowers you'll get a nice romantic touch to a strong colour.
